เครื่องมือวัดความต้านทานดิน (Earth tester) มีความจำเป็นในการใช้งานเพื่อวัดระบบกราวน์ของหลักดิน (Earth electrode) หรือของวงจรว่ามีความต้านทาน ณ พื้นที่นั้นๆ อยู่ในระดับที่กำหนดหรือไม่ ถ้าหากระบบกราวน์ของวงจรไม่ได้ค่าตามที่กำหนดไว้ จะทำให้เกิดสัญญาณรบกวนหรือกระแสรั่วไหลที่อาจจะเกิดขึ้นไม่สามารถผ่านลงดินได้ ซึ่งจะทำให้ไปรบกวนอุปกรณ์ไฟฟ้า
